The privileges of the holder of PPL (A) are to act without remuneration as Pilot in Command or Co-Pilot of any aeroplanes or TMGs (Touring Motor Gliders) engaged in non commercial operations.

Pre-entry Requirements
The training must be completed at an ATO approved in accordance with Part-FCL. The course includes practical and theoretical training.
The theoretical knowledge syllabus of the Part-FCL PPL aeroplanes shall cover the following subjects:
Each subject will be examined in a multiple choice format with 75% pass mark. There is no minimum requirement with regards to the theoretical knowledge, however an applicant shall allow approximately 100 hours of studying to complete the nine theory subjects. This can be done by full tuition in our ground school facilities under the supervision of one of our instructors.
Applicants for the PPL (A) shall have completed at least 45 hours of flight instruction in aeroplanes, 5 of which may have been completed in an FSTD (Flight Simulation Training Device), including at least:
The remaining 10 hours to complete the minimum 45 hours can be either dual or solo depending on the students capacity.
The training is completed on C152 or PA28 aeroplane renowned to be the best, safest and most reliable training aircraft ever build. However training can take place on any other aircract we do operate at a small additional cost.
Upon passing all the 9 theoretical exams and completing the minimum training requirements the course comes to completion with a Part-FCL PPL (A) Skill Test with an EASA approved Examiner.
Course Duration – Cost
We at Griffon Aviation know that you will need to work hard to obtain your Part-FCL PPL (A), but we always try to make this experience as enjoyable as possible. Flying is supposed to be fun!
The majority of our students who come to Cyprus to do their training have limited time to complete the course. The complete PPL (A) course can be completed in as little as 6-8 months. However this requires a full time commitment and a lot of preparation in the theory subjects. Realistically this can be completed in 10-12 months. However, we at Griffon Aviation can tailor the syllabus to suit your personal needs and you might consider taking your training on a part-time basis, i.e. weekly, monthly or as often as time and budget allows.
The cost is based on the minimum training requirements. With full time tuition (theory subjects) it will cost approximately €10.500. Prices are inclusive of VAT, aeroplane, instructor and landing fees where applicable.

Furst we recomend that you take an introductory flight lesson. Then get your study materials and book and book an aviation mediacal exam.
An introductroy flight will give you the chance to pilot an airplane for the first time. This will help you decide if you really want to pursue a pilot’s licence plus it will give you a knowledge base for the ground studying.

The HCAA requires pilots to have regular medical checkups. These are essentially a simple physical exam that you get from a general practitioner doctor who is cerified by the HCAA as an aeromedical examiner. For the initial issuance of a medical certificate you shall visit a certified aeromedical examination center and by the end of the examination you will get the certificate. The renewal of the certificate is done by certified aeromedical examiners every 12-60 months depending on the age of the pilot and the certificate’s class which is issued according to the type of the license (private, commercial etc.)

You should contact us and we will guide you through the whole registration process. We will decide together what method or training option is best for you and then you will take a pre-entry test. After that you will complete a registration form and we will begin a training record for you. That’s all!

You can stay at the recommended accommodation centre in Pafos town with regular bus service to the airport and our offices or alternatively you can stay in Limassol that requires a 45 minute drive to the airport hence a car hire is required.

Pafos International Airport operates with a single runway (11/29) that is 2700 meters long, and has a new fully modernised control tower. All the communications takes place in the English Language. The airport has all the features and amenities that you would expect from an International Airport.
