We are glad to offer you an approved EASA FI (A) rating. The rating is added on any valid JAA/EASA licence. Griffon Aviation offers initial FI (A) training, CRI (SE & ME) Ratings as well as Flight Instructor Revalitations and Renewals. **Pre-Requisites** In order to start the course the following pre-requisites shall be met (FCL 915.FI): - Shall hold at least a CPL (A); or - Shall hold at least a PPL (A) and have met the requirements for the CPL theoretical knowledge except for an FI (A) providing training for the LAPL (A) only; and have completed at least 200 hours of flight time on aeroplanes or TMGs, of which 150 hours as PIC - Shall have completed at least 30 hours on single-engine piston aeroplanes, of which at least five hours shall have been completed during the six months preceding the pre-entry flight test for the FI (A) training course - Shall have completed at least 20 hours of cross country as pilot-in-command, including a VFR cross-country flight of at least 540km (300nm) in the course of which full stop landings at two different aerodromes shall be made. - Hold a valid medical certificate issued in accordance with Part-MED - Have received at least 10 hours of instrument flight instruction in aeroplanes, of which no more than 5 hours must be instrument ground time (simulator) - Show evidence of English language proficiency at least equal to ICAO Level 4 ### Pre-Entry Flight Test Applicants for an FI (A) training course shall pass a specific pre-entry flight test with an FI (A) qualified to administer such a test, in order to demonstrate their ability to undertake the course. ### The course As per Part-FCL 1.340, the course consists of at least 30 hours of flight training, of which 25 hours shall be dual flight instruction. The remaining 5 hours may be mutual flying (that is, two applicants flying together to practice flight demonstrations). In addition to the flying training, 125 hours of theoretical training must be completed, comprising of flight briefings/ de-briefings and theoretical demonstrations. Upon completing the FI (A) course an applicant for an FI (A) certificate shall pass an Assessement of Competence (AoC) in aeroplane to demonstarte to an examiner qualified in accordance with Part-FCL the ability to instruct a student pilot to the level required for the issue of the relevant license, rating or certificate. The FI (A) course is usually completed on the C150/152 but any other aircraft of the fleet may be used upon applicant’s request. ### Credits from previous experience In accordance with article 8 of EU Regulation 1178/2011, a pilot who holds a licence issued by an ICAO contracting state that includes instructional priviledges may receive credit towards the flight and/or theoretical knowledge training for a Part-FCL instructor certificate. Any credit given will be determined by the Authority on the basis of a recommendation from the Head of Training. ### Course Duration - Cost Course Duration: 4-6 Weeks on a full time basis but can be stretched over a longer period of time. Price: €7320,including VAT, aeroplane, instructor and landing fees where applicable. No. Most students have no prior experience at the beginning of airplane training. What are the steps to getting started? Furst we recomend that you take an introductory flight lesson. Then get your study materials and book and book an aviation mediacal exam. What is an introductory flight? An introductroy flight will give you the chance to pilot an airplane for the first time. This will help you decide if you really want to pursue a pilot’s licence plus it will give you a knowledge base for the ground studying. What is the study materials? The study package contains books , maps , a flight computer and much more to help you understand and get the required knowledge to pass all the written exams Why is an aviation medical exam? The HCAA requires pilots to have regular medical checkups. These are essentially a simple physical exam that you get from a general practitioner doctor who is cerified by the HCAA as an aeromedical examiner. For the initial issuance of a medical certificate you shall visit a certified aeromedical examination center and by the end of the examination you will get the certificate. The renewal of the certificate is done by certified aeromedical examiners every 12-60 months depending on the age of the pilot and the certificate’s class which is issued according to the type of the license (private, commercial etc.) Do i need a perfect eyesight? No. You only need vision that is correctable with glasses or contact lenses. What do i have to register for the school? You should contact us and we will guide you through the whole registration process. We will decide together what method or training option is best for you and then you will take a pre-entry test. You can stay at the recommended accommodation centre in Pafos town with regular bus service to the airport and our offices or alternatively you can stay in Limassol that requires a 45 minute drive to the airport hence a car hire is required. Griffon Aviation operates from Pafos International Airport, where you will find the airspace much quieter than most European airports. Pafos International Airport operates with a single runway (11/29) that is 2700 meters long, and has a new fully modernised control tower. All the communications takes place in the English Language. Upon completing the theoretical knowledge the applicant shall pass the theoretical knowledge examination paper with 75% covering mainly the Multi Engine aspects before the Skill Test is attempted. This test takes place in our facilities at Pafos Airport. - **Flight Training** Flight training comprises 6 hours of dual flight instruction, of which at least 3.5 hours will be instruction in engine failure procedures and asymmetric flight techniques. An optional extra hour of asymmetric circuit training by night may be added to the course if the applicant holds a night rating. ### Credits from previous experience In accordance with article 8 of EU Regulation 1178/2011, a pilot who holds a license issued by an ICAO contracting state that includes MEP (L) privileges may receive credit towards the flight and/or theoretical knolwledge training for the Part-FCL MEP (L) Class Rating. Any credit given will be determined by the Authority on the basis of a recommendation from the Head of Training. ### Course Duration - Cost The duration to complete the course is expected to take approximately one week on a full time basis. Training can be stretched over a longer period of time taking into consideration work commitements that the applicant might have. We at Griffon can accomodate the training to meet the needs of individuals. The cost of the MEP (L) is €2570 and is based on the minimum training requirements (flight training of 6 hours). Price also includes all theoretical instruction of 7 hours, VAT(19%), instructor and landing fees where applicable. If any training is required over and above the course hours the applicant will be charged the aircraft hourly rate. Skill test, exam and DCA fees are not included on the above price. For this purpose “night” means the time between sunset and sunrise, sunset and sunrise being determined at surface level. We are glad to offer you an approved EASA Night rating. The rating is added on any valid JAA/EASA licence. **Pre-Requisites** In order to start the course, as per FCL 810, the applicant must hold a JAA/EASA PPL (A) or an EASA LAPL (A). ### The course As per Part-FCL 810, the course shall comprise: - 3 Hours of Theoretical knowledge instruction. - At least 5 hours of flight training in the appropriate aircraft category at night, including at least 3 hours of Dual Instruction, 1 hour of Cross-Country Navigation of at least 27 Nautical Miles (50 Kilometers), 5 Solo Take-offs and Full Stop Landings. The holder of a PPL (A) with instructor or examiner priviledges may however receive remuneration for: - the provision of flight instruction for the LAPL (A) or the PPL (A) - the conduct of skill tests and proficiency checks for these licenses;and - the ratings and certificates attached to these licenses **Pre-entry Requirements** - The minimum age to obtain the Part-FCL PPL(A) is 17 years old. There is no maximum age limit - The minimum age for the First Solo flight is 16 years old however the appropriate medical certificate must be obtained before solo flying is permitted - There is no educational background requirement to start the PPL (A) training - Theoretical and flight training is conducted in the English Language. ### The course The training must be completed at an ATO approved in accordance with Part-FCL. The course includes practical and theoretical training. ### Theoretical Knoweledge The theoretical knowledge syllabus of the Part-FCL PPL aeroplanes shall cover the following subjects: 1. Airlaw 2. Aircraft General Knowledge 3. Flight Performance and Planning 4. Human Performance 5. Meteorology 6. Navigation 7. Operational Procedures 8. Principles of Flight 9. Communications Each subject will be examined in a multiple choice format with 75% pass mark. There is no minimum requirement with regards to the theoretical knowledge, however an applicant shall allow approximately 100 hours of studying to complete the nine theory subjects. This can be done by full tuition in our ground school facilities under the supervision of one of our instructors. ### Flight Training Applicants for the PPL (A) shall have completed at least 45 hours of flight instruction in aeroplanes, 5 of which may have been completed in an FSTD (Flight Simulation Training Device), including at least: - 25 hours dual instruction; and - 10 hours of supervised solo flight time, including at least 5 hours of solo cross country flight time. The remaining 10 hours to complete the minimum 45 hours can be either dual or solo depending on the students capacity. The training is completed on C152 or PA28 aeroplane renowned to be the best, safest and most reliable training aircraft ever build. However training can take place on any other aircract we do operate at a small additional cost. Upon passing all the 9 theoretical exams and completing the minimum training requirements the course comes to completion with a Part-FCL PPL (A) Skill Test with an EASA approved Examiner. **Course Duration – Cost** We at Griffon Aviation know that you will need to work hard to obtain your Part-FCL PPL (A), but we always try to make this experience as enjoyable as possible. The Cessna Skyhawk is the ultimate training aircraft and the most popular single-engine aircraft ever built. With forgiving flight characteristics, great visibility, a sophisticated glass cockpit outfitted with G1000 avionics, slow landing speed and a forgiving stall – the Cessna Skyhawk is a flight training favorite ideally suited for student pilots. Measured by its longevity and popularity, the Cessna 172 is the most successful aircraft in history. Cessna delivered the first production model in 1956 and as of 2015, the company and its partners had built more than 44,000. The aircraft remains in production today.The Skyhawk N, or Skyhawk/100 as Cessna termed it, was introduced for the 1977 model year. The “100” designation indicated that it was powered by a Lycoming O-320-H2AD, 160 horsepower (119 kW) engine designed to run on 100-octane fuel, whereas all previous engines used 80/87 fuel. But this engine proved troublesome, and it was replaced by the similarly rated O-320-D2J to create the 1981 172P. The 1977 “N” model 172 also introduced rudder trim as an option and standard “pre-selectable” flaps. The price was US$22,300, with the Skyhawk/100 II selling for US$29,950. The 1978 model brought a 28-volt electrical system to replace the previous 14-volt system. Air conditioning was an option. The 1979 model “N” increased the flap-extension speed for the first 10 degrees to 115 knots (213 km/h). Larger wing tanks increased the optional fuel to 66 US gallons (250 l). It is built by Piper Aircraft. All members of the PA-28 family are all-metal, unpressurized, single-engined, piston-powered airplanes with low-mounted wings and tricycle landing gear. They all have a single door on the copilot side, which is entered by stepping on the wing. The first PA-28 received its type certificate from the Federal Aviation Administration in 1960, and the series remains in production to this day. Current models are the Arrow and Archer TX and LX. The Archer was discontinued in 2009, but with investment from new Piper owners Imprimis, was put back into production in 2010. The PA-28 series competes with the Cessna 172, the Grumman American AA-5 series, and the Beechcraft Musketeer. Piper has created variations within the Cherokee family by installing engines ranging from 140 to 300 hp (105-220 kW), providing turbocharging, offering fixed or retractable landing gear, fixed-pitch or constant speed propellers, and stretching the fuselage to accommodate six people. First delivered in 1977 as the 1978 model year, the 152 was a modernisation of the proven Cessna 150 design. The 152 was intended to compete with the new Beechcraft Skipper and Piper Tomahawk, both of which were introduced the same year. Additional design goals were to improve useful load through a gross weight increase to 1670 lbs (757 kg), decrease internal and external noise levels and run better on the then newly introduced 100LL fuel. As with the 150, the great majority of 152s were built at the Cessna factory in Wichita, Kansas. A number of aircraft were also built by Reims Aviation of France and given the designation F152/FA152.
